michael jackson, gone too soon.

like a comet
blazing ‘cross the evening sky
gone too soon

like a rainbow
fading in the twinkling of an eye
gone too soon

shiny and sparkly
and splendidly bright
here one day
gone one night

like the loss of sunlight
on a cloudy afternoon
gone too soon

like a castle
built upon a sandy beach
gone too soon

like a perfect flower
that is just beyond your reach
gone too soon

born to amuse
to inspire to delight
here one day
gone one night

like a sunset
dying with the rising of the moon
gone too soon
gone too soon

michael jackson was a big part of my childhood. i remember my dad playing his ‘thriller’ record. i remember watching michael’s movies and trying to dance like him. i remember my brother imitating michael’s dressing from when he was like, 5. i remember this picture of my baby brother, a huge smile on his face, one hand pointing towards the sky, with a hat on his head, dancing to michael’s song. we must have watched his movie a million times. i must have watched the dance scene in “jam” 4 million times, and his interview with oprah even more.

he was a hero in my heart and i loved everything about him. i cried when i watched that movie/documentary about his life and how he wanted to just be a child. when i graduated from primary/elementary school, i got my entire class to perform “beat it” during our graduation ceremony. i cried when i saw him in concert when i was about 13 or 14. it was amazing listening to him sing, watching him move. i was in awe.

michael must have affected us in so many ways. i’m no singer, and i’m no dancer. but i remember wishing i could dance like him. who didn’t?

years later, here i am loving military uniforms. i’ve loved military uniforms for as long as i remember. my last collection for school, i based the entire collection on epaulets. was i influenced by michael as a 7 year old kid? i think so. he was my icon. he was the pioneer. he was the king. look at what he wore, 10, 15, 20 years ago. look at what designers are putting on the runways now. balmain, balenciaga, who else? even if you hated his music, we were all affected in some way, you in those gladiator sandals, in those jackets with accented shoulders.

Aww.. :( This is totally embarrassing, but I became ridiculously emotional reading that, Gilda. Beautiful.

RIP Michael Jackson.. I love you, forever and always.

Billie Jean rocked the dance floor every time no matter who was on the floor.

Such a legend. His music, his moves. A touching post, I’m sure millions are reacting the same way…

I am so sad over this. I couldn’t sleep properly last night with worry when I heard he’d had a heart attack.

I’ll cherish my memories when I was a kid and was bopping around to the ‘Bad’ album.

Rest in Peace MJ, you rocked my world and will still continue to do so forever.

Really Shocked and Sad.
Unbelievable.

I don’t know, I feel bad because I’m not really sad about this. MJ wasn’t a great influence on me and while I’m sad tat he died so suddenly, I don’t feel the need to mourn like others.

However, I hope that you feel better soon sweetie.

May he rest in peace.

So sad he’s gone!
My childhood was filled with dressing up and dancing to MJ (esp with my mum being a dance instructor who was heavily influenced by the music and style of the Jacksons…)
One of my fave childhood memories involves sitting with all the kids in the neighbourhood watching the Moonwalker movie! <3
His music will live on x

Well… he may have been a controversial figure, especially in his last few, sad years on this earth, but one thing is for sure. He’s an icon. And he’ll always be part of our pop cultural reference book.

a very emotional post.
i teared up just reading this.
his passing was a truly sad event.
the whole world mourned for him.
he will always be remembered as one the men who changed the world. :)

watching the news is still hard for me because i get really affected by news of his death. i watched the BET awards and got pissed off with joe jackson, then cried when janet appeared with tears in her eyes. then i watched an interview when jermaine, and cried when he said he wished it was him who died instead, and i think everything he said was honest and sincere.

i still can’t believe michael died. i wish more people grew up with him and more people knew what an amazing person and performer he was.

somewhere inside of me, i hope his death was faked and that he is on a private island somewhere, away from the media and the people who’ve ridiculed him and leeched onto him and who’ve made used of him. i hope he’s somewhere peaceful, at a real neverland and live the childhood he never experienced. i love you michael.
