what is freebird?
i started freebird on my 24th birthday, on april 19th. for no particular reasons, except to blog about my so-called exciting life.
although freebird started off as my personal blog, it is slowly evolving to something more than that. while i blog mostly about my sometime-adventures in new york, tokyo and singapore, freebird is also about growing and self-development. it is about finding and improving oneself. it is about daring to let one’s real personality shine. we all have big dreams in life, and i hope that freebird can be an avenue that we explore those dreams together. that’s why i chose the name, “freebird”.
not only is it the name of one of my favorite songs, it also literally means to be free. after all, don’t we all want to fly? i know i will one day. or at least, i’ll find my way there, somewhere over that rainbow, with some red ruby sequined shoes.
through freebird, i hope to show you that although i’m not the tallest, slimmest of people, i have learnt to really enjoy my life as it is, and appreciate myself for who i am, and not how much i weigh! it would be amazing if freebird can show you that just being you, is fabulous enough! don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, because you are fabulous!
life is a learning journey, and through loving ourselves, life also becomes fun and beautiful!
i am also very experimental with my clothing and designs. and though my own little crazy aesthetic, i hope it pushes you to explore possibilities and to try a new style that you never thought of, or dared to, before!
i believe that you can never overdress. i believe in finding what works for you and working it to the limit. i believe in having your own style, a look that is uniquely you. i believe in living life to the fullest. i believe in living according to your heart, whether you are angry, sad, or happy. i believe in love. i believe in accessories. i believe that confidence is the ultimate accessory.

the name, freebird, is actually taken from the title of one of my favorite songs, by the biggest japanese group in japan history ever, ……………smap.
yeah yeah don’t crap on me for it. i’m a… smappuholic. a smap teenybopper and i’m not ashamed to admit it. but why smap?
it’s pretty simple actually. whenever i listen to freebird, it makes me smile and i feel like dancing and just hopping around, flailing my arms.
here’s the song and what it means. the lyrics of this song speaks a lot about what i hope my life will be, and what i wish for you. this song is like some literature poem to me, and it can be translated into many different meanings. the one i did here is how i felt the song translated to me, so please don’t copy it without asking.
